Preparing for your ESG procedure

Before your Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) procedure, our team will guide you through the required instructions, testing, and documents to help make your experience as safe and smooth as possible.

Please review the information below carefully. Some instructions may vary depending on your medical history, medications, test results, and the recommendations of your care team.

Before Your Procedure:

Prior to your procedure, you may be asked to complete several important steps, including:

  • Pre-procedure consultation

  • Laboratory testing

  • Imaging studies, if needed

  • Nutrition and diet preparation

  • Medical clearance, if required

  • Review of your current medications

  • Review of anesthesia instructions

  • Completion of consent and intake forms

Medication Instructions:

Some medications may need to be adjusted before your procedure, including blood thinners, diabetes medications, GLP-1 medications, anti-inflammatory medications, and certain supplements.

Do not stop or change any medication unless instructed by your physician or care team.

Please make sure our office has an updated list of all medications, vitamins, and supplements you are currently taking.

Diet Instructions:

You may be asked to follow a specific diet before your procedure. This may include a liquid diet or other nutrition plan designed to prepare your stomach and reduce procedure-related risks.

Follow the diet instructions provided by our team. If you are unsure about what you can eat or drink, contact the office before your procedure.

The Day Before Your Procedure:

The day before your procedure, please make sure you have:

  • Reviewed your instructions

  • Completed all required forms

  • Confirmed your arrival time

  • Arranged transportation home

  • Followed your diet instructions

  • Followed fasting instructions from the anesthesia team

  • Contacted the office with any last-minute questions

Procedure Day
Ā 

On the day of your procedure, please bring:

  • Photo ID

  • Insurance card

  • Medication list

  • Completed paperwork, if requested

  • Any required test results or clearance documents

  • A responsible adult who can drive you home
    Ā 

You should not drive yourself home after the procedure.
